Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 17th Biennial E-AHPBA Congress, taking place from 2–4 June 2027 in Hamburg, Germany.

The Congress is a unique forum where clinicians, researchers and industry partners come together to shape the future of HPB care. Continued progress in our specialty depends on strong partnerships and high-quality research that drive innovation, education and ultimately improve patient outcomes. The programme will combine state-of-the-art science, emerging technologies and practical education through expert lectures, multidisciplinary symposia, debates and abstract presentations. A particular highlight will include several joint sessions developed with leading international surgical, oncological and allied societies, reinforcing our

commitment to multidisciplinary patient care and cross-specialty collaboration.

We are honoured to have Professor Thilo Hackert leading a local team in Hamburg and by working alongside them, we are making a major investment in Early Career HPB surgeons, with dedicated educational, networking and leadership initiatives to support the next generation of HPB specialists.

The Congress will provide an outstanding platform to engage with international experts, showcase innovation and strengthen networking across Europe, Africa and beyond. Our goal is to deliver an exceptional in-person meeting that promotes high-level scientific exchange while providing opportunities to engage with key decision-makers and healthcare professionals, and advance HPB education and training.

We look forward to meeting you at the E-AHPBA 2027 Congress in Hamburg.

Sincerely,

Eduard Jonas
